I love listening to the Cortex Podcast and the concept of a yearly theme. In general, a yearly theme is more of a guiding force to think about during the year as opposed to a New Year’s resolution that may or may not be doable. Below is a video that talks about yearly themes in a better way than I could ever do. I’ve talked about my yearly themes in the past, and I think I’m ready to share this year’s theme.
The Year of Doing
My theme this year is the word “doing.” So what does that mean exactly? What I’m hoping to achieve is more action in specific areas of my life. In short, I want to be doing the things I want to do. I have noticed lately that I have really turned down the knobs on some aspects of my life that I want to regain. In particular I want to focus on:
- Video Production
- Health
- Home
- Writing
It’s not a big list, or even a lot to focus on, and that’s by design. I want to really up my video production in a number of areas. My YouTube channel has been on the back burner for a bit, and I would really like to return to putting in more effort with it. As far as health goes, I’ve been lazier with working out than I would like to be, and I want to spend more time giving my health a facelift.
When it comes to home, there are several short and longer-term things that I want to do. Some are as doing our weekly chore list, while others will require much more effort. But doing them is key. And final writing. I’m not a particularly gifted writer, but I do want to spend some time putting in more effort in that area. This website has not gotten a lot of love. It’s easy to include a blog post with a YouTube video, I just have to do it.
So that’s it. Pretty simple and open to adding and removing things from my focus area. I like the flexibility yearly themes give and I’m fully embracing this year’s theme as evidenced by this post. Stay tuned for more.
